Welcome to the TestXML Standards Group!

The TXML-SG: "TestXML Standards Group" is a software industry consortium formed to define standards used in specifying and testing systems that process XML documents and messages.

Our primary goal is to provide a range of schemas and API specifications useful in communicating formal requirements, test plans, and other software engineering documents written in XML.

The consortium was founded by the XMLTesting.com division of Scrutable Systems in order to promote interoperability of advanced XML-based automated testing systems. Other organizations are welcome to join the consortium, and contribute their specifications and comments.

So far, we have produced two released drafts of the XRT (XML-Reqt/Test) schema - a simple XML schema for defining requirements and/or test cases in XML. The current draft and an introductory primer document are available here:

  • The XRT schema, dated September 16, 2002 (format: W3 XML Schema - May, 2001)
  • XRT primer, dated September 16, 2002 (format: HTML)

If you have problems viewing the XML schema, try saving it as a local text file and then open it with your favorite text editor.

You may leave your comments on XRT on this XRT wiki page. You may also email us with your comments at comments@testxml.org.

Note: An open-source implementation of an automated system able to run XRT test cases can be found at XMLTester.org. If you have another project that uses the TestXML.org schemas, we would love to hear about it!
